It's time....
Let the summer of strategy begin!
Doing the work is a reader-supported newsletter for anyone who is serious about doing the work of anti-racism. It’s a space for learning, accountability, and honest and open reflections on anti-racism, anti-oppression and what it means for brands and communications.
It’s brought to you by Collette Philip, a multi-award-winning founder, writer, coach and facilitator.
Last week we talked about why a summer of strategy could be a good idea (if you’re not going away or taking much-needed rest).
So, welcome to the STRATEGY MASTERMIND! This is your first step in committing to a strategy that will create a step change in your work to embed anti-racism, anti-oppression and equity, whether at work, within your team, within your business, on an individual level or in another area of your life.
By developing your strategy together, we will identify the actions that are going to make a difference. We will turn your vision and ambitions into reality. And this clarity will help you stay accountable for making it happen.
So let’s get going!
How will this work?
Each week, you’ll get an email from me with a specific task.
Over the next 8 or so weeks, I’ll take you through our strategy development process. This week, we’ll start by establishing our why.
Week 2, we will set our vision for this work.
Week 3 we’ll use our why and vision to act as a lens to audit our past activities, understand what we can learn, and establish what we might want to do differently.
Week 4, we’ll look at our external environment - our stakeholders, context and opportunities and distractions.
Weeks 5 and 6, we’ll develop our strategy.
And finally in our last week together, we’ll work out how to measure the progress and impact of our activity over the life of our strategy.
